Welcome back! Inshallah everyone had a wonderful winter break and is ready to jump into their classes for this new Spring semester. We are really excited about this semester because we have a lot of events lined up. There is going to be a weekly class given by Br. Suleiman Jalloh, he will be going through the tafseer of Juzz Ammah. Inshallah Imam Siraj Wahhaj will be coming back for another awesome lecture. Local Imams will come together for a full day Islamic seminar. Not to mention Islamic Awareness Week. And of course, there will be many activities and entertainment sessions, Inshallah.

S.I.S.T.E.R.S Announces TWO $1000 Scholarships
In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
S.I.S.T.E.R.S Announces TWO $1000.00 Scholarships For Young Sisters
Sisters in Solidarity to Educate, Respond & Serve (S.I.S.T.E.R.S) is
pleased to announce their second annual scholarship for sisters.
In an effort to highlight the academic and civic achievements of young
Muslim women in the DC Metropolitan Area, S.I.S.T.E.R.S initiated this
scholarship program in 2007. S.I.S.T.E.R.S aims to recognize and assist
deserving students to achieve their higher education goals. This year,
two $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded to the most
deserving applicants. In order to be considered for this award, all
applicants are required to meet the following eligibility guidelines.
You must:
-Be a Muslim female between the ages of 17-22 years old.
-Currently be enrolled in or accepted to a 2 or 4 year college program.
-Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or better.
-Demonstrate an active participation in community service work.
-Complete a short essay component.
-Submit grade transcript.
-Submit a letter of recommendation.
The deadline for the scholarship application is April 5, 2008. The
winners will be notified by April 18th. Guidelines and Application can

On Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7:30pm we will meet at the Masjid on Shirley Gate Road
and head out to Mr. Chicken in Springfield (super delicious Halal hand cut
chicken!)
